Nantucket Sounds

As through revolving doors
We sailed from
Balmy airs of summer
Into arctic air
Conditioned with scent of
Fish and iceberg:
Legacy of Labrador winter.
Thin fog fringed silken seas
Under silver edged clouds
We glid through
Alternating stanzas of air
And waters glowing with wealth.

Globules of light
Danced under the honeyed moon
In sinuous forms
On the gloss black sea
Where climates are made,
And mixed,
And balanced.
