Inca Stones

The stones stand stone on Incan stone,

No mortar joints but perfect union

Of bronze-crafted surfaces:

Chisel and bevel,

Face to face,

Trapezoid in perfect geometry they lean,

Earthquake-proof, organic bonds of

Secret joints, locking spurs and

Papertight union.

I hear the guide but see you dance

Ball-gowned

Amongst the ancient stones.

For so our hearts are bonded,

Face to face,

In interlocking union.

Ten thousand miles are

Paperthin between us.
